Amedeo Clemente Modigliani was a famous Italian painter, draftsman and sculptor with Jewish roots. He was born in 1884 in Livorno, Italy, and died in 1920 in Paris. Modigliani's paintings, thanks to which the artist gained fame, are mainly brave nudes that were not accepted by society at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Modigliani first came into contact with painting in Italy, where he completed his studies in the art of antiquity and the Renaissance. Later, Amedeo Modigliani settled in Paris and there he met the bohemian artistic milieu, including Pablo Picasso, Juan Gris and Diego Rivera. In 1917, Modigliani became involved with Jeanne Hébuterne, who was the great love of his life and a muse who posed for many nudes. Modigliani, who had health problems since childhood, died suddenly at the age of 36 from tuberculosis.
